About the challenge
The Wisconsin Quantum Computing Club brings back its partnership with IBM to bring you the third edition of the Qiskit Fall Fest Hackathon! This year's hackathon will feature three leading prompts and an open-ended track where you can strive to design a unique invention using Qiskit!
Upon successful completion of a valid submission, you will earn an official certificate and get a chance to win some awesome prizes (over $300 in total value)!
Get started
Missed our Intro to Qiskit sessions? Fear not! Use this setup guide to get up to speed with Qiskit and gain access to our practice notebooks. We strongly recommend the use of Google Collab to remove any installation barriers. To run code on a real quantum computer, make a free account with IBM Quantum Platform
We will have Qiskit Mentors available throughout the entire session to help you with anything you need!
Open Project Challenge
This year, our hackathon goes fully project-based! We'll have three leading prompts for participants to follow for inspiration, though you're welcome to submit a project on any topic! This is the perfect opportunity to create a project that you can showcase on your resume and LinkedIn
To be eligible for prizes, you must present your project at the Qiskit Fall Fest Closing Ceremony on Thursday, November 20th, from 7:00-8:30 pm. You may still submit your project for a certificate, but you will not be eligible for prizes.
Your open-ended project submission is due on Monday, Nov 17th 11:59 pm. Projects will be judged by the WQCC executive board and a panel of Quantum Computing graduate students.
See the requirements for this challenge below!
Requirements
What to Build
Your project must have some Qiskit component. Other than that, you're free to design as you will! Successful submissions in the past have tackled applications for quantum computing, such as cryptography, quantum chemistry, quantum communication protocols, etc. Pro tip: find a classical field you're curious about and willing to learn, and see if there's a problem to be solved through quantum computing!
What to Submit
Open Project Challenge:
- Projects must be submitted through Devpost.
- Projects must have some Qiskit component.
